Dreamhost and WordPress

Welcome to the BLOG of DREAMHOST. Here we are going to learn the basic Sign Up, and Installation of DreamHost and WordPress together. First let’s start off with DreamHost!!

What is DreamHost?

DreamHost is a Los Angeles based web-HOSTING provider and DOMAIN NAME registrar. It is the web-HOSTING branch of New Dream Network founded in 1996 by Dallas Bethune, Josh Jones, Micheal Rodriguez, and Sage Weil, under-graduate students at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California. DreamHost started HOSTING customer sites 1997.

Let’s begin by signing up on the DreamHost website. Just relax and follow the instructions accompanied with screen-shots.

1. Go to www.Dreamhost.com

2. Click on the Sign Up button as shown in the screen shot.

3. Now, you will be forwarded to a page where you have to choose any of the two options like “Host a DOMAIN” or “Register a DOMAIN“. You can click on “Host a DOMAIN” if you already have a DOMAIN NAME. If not, just click on “Register a DOMAIN“

4. After clicking on “Register a DOMAIN“, you will need to follow simple 4 steps. Before you complete the 4th step of registering on DreamHost, there is a PROMOTIONAL CODE offer for all of you who enters the promotional code as “DFOSTER”. This will get you a free DOMAIN NAME. Please read the next step for more details after this.

5. How to get a FREE DOMAIN NAME REGISTERED. It’s simple. After you have completed entering your personal and site details, all you have to do is type “DFOSTER” in the box where promotional code is written. The screen shot shows it all.

6. Click on PROCEED PAYMENT button. And we are all done. Registration and Sign Up is complete. I recommend the 1 year plan.

How to Log In to your new DreamHost account.

1. Go to http://www.dreamhost.com and lick on “Panel” located on the top-right corner of your browser screen. See the screen shot below:

2. Type in your E-mail address and your Password, click on Log In as shown in the screen shot. This will re-direct you to your Control Panel of DreamHost website.

3. Now it’s time to install WordPress on your DreamHost Account.

Installing WordPress on DreamHost account

1. Follow the log-in procedures listed above.

2. Go to the “Goodies” section in the DreamHost Control Panel, as shown in the screen shot below:

3. After clicking it, a drop down menu will open up. Select “One Click Installs” button as shown in the RED BOX in the screen shot.

4. Now click on “Install New Website Software – Advanced Mode” and select the radio button for “WordPress”. Its shown in the screen shot as below:

5. After the above step, a form for WordPress will come up where it will ask you to enter the details like New Database name, Create a New Host Name, New User Name, New Password. After all these fields have been entered, just click on the button “Install it for me Now!” as shown in the screen shot below:
